Reading Matter(s).....

Oh dear, did I mention the coming of Spring a little too early???

Oops,I hope that you are all warm and cosy EVEN if you are under a blanket of snow!

No such luck here I am afraid, just horrible cold drizzly rain...

So when the weather is not much fun, time to do the only sensible thing-eat and curl up with a good book!

So firstly we went out for lunch - sadly I forgot my camera, we had lunch here...

'The Meeting Room' in Kingsbridge....

I had a bowl of the most wonderful steaming hot aromatic stew and a glass of equally delicious Merlot-then we trawled the charity shops for books to take home and read!

Firstly I couldn't resist these....

  ...for 20pence each...

They are the ones that my Grandmother read to me as a child-well not the actual ones but it was lovely to see the Ladybird ones that I remember so well and read until they fell apart! Still looking for The Elves and the Shoemaker-my favourite!

The complete works of Lewis Carroll- for £1.50....

The Borrowers,Brer Rabbit and The Folk of the Faraway Tree....all for £1.00 each...

I know they are largely childrens books but I am hoping that my niece will love reading as much as I did and I have 'tons' of books- just in case....

Then I found...

a couple of 'rainy afternoon' books...

And when we got home this was waiting in the post box...

Ah, another busy weekend.....

Though in between the reading I did manage a good walk...
So I haven't been completely idle!

Warm Wishes for a 'cosy' week,
Callie

P.S. Some of you lovely bloggers have emailed me to say that you have left comments that have been bounced back- Thank you so much for letting me know- I THINK that I have sorted out the issue but if it happens to you again please could you let me know?
Warmest x

Off To Market.....

Well it is the time of year again to start the rounds of craft markets and fairs, it is lovely to see the wealth of talent that is around-  I am in awe of their skills!! My little stall is growing and changing, I hope to add handmade soap to the goodies this year and as soon as my knitting and crochet has improved maybe some of that too...but in the mean time this Saturday was Topsham Craft Market....

A few of the pretties I took.....

I always take this plaque for a giggle.....

 Some scented lovelies....

Hearts and A Love Dove.....

I made some bags of scented rosebuds, one was from a lovely piece of rose patterned silk,  filled some pretty little voile bags with  rose bath salts and decorated them and did a few bags of pretty ribbon rosebuds for sewing and craft. We were rose themed this time as I have run out of Lavender, hopefully some more is on it's way as we speak- all my own  has been used up.....

It went very well and I sold a good amount ,which was very rewarding- so now down to preparing for the next one....

After the early start and hard work it was time for a treat....

My monthly magazine treat- and cake of course!

Country Living even set the scene.....

This is my own recipe- I call it Hedgerow Cake.....

It is a vanilla sponge- made as any plain sponge- but  with vanilla sugar, then topped with vanilla icing and filled with icing and my own Hedgerow Jam- it is quite a 'tart' jam so it cuts the sweetness of the vanilla...yummy....

I know you are going to be thinking- WEIGHT WATCHERS?!?!- but I have NOT fallen off the wagon- five weeks in and I am TEN pounds lighter- and VERY happy....
So I CAN have my cake and eat it!.....

Warm Wishes for a Wonderful Week,
