All Aboard.......

Well, one of my recent visits to our local library paid off in a number of ways! Not only did I find the wonderful Thrift Book ( see previous blog) but I also met a lovely lady in there asking if the library had any books on Christmas grottoes - you can imagine how my ears pricked up!

It turns out that the lovely lady in question - Carol -  is a volunteer for South Devon Railway and they needed some help decorating Santa's Train this year!!  So, we went down and met all the wonderful volunteers that keep this beautiful place running - and we took a trip on the steam train too....

I cannot believe this amazing attraction is walking distance from my house and I have never really paid it much attention before - too busy working etc - and although I wouldn't have called myself an enthusiast in any way, I do love vintage and oh my goodness, this place is as authentically vintage as you can imagine!  It's truly wonderful.

So over the next two months we will be creating a little piece of magic in a lovely old carriage for  children to see Father Christmas when he visits later - if you would like to visit too click here.  The railway has many other events going on most of the year.

Here are a few photographs of our trip....

What a great place and I'm sooo jealous I mean it's going to be brilliant fun to help with the Santa's grotto.

Hi Cally, this is one of my favourite places... we went to an engagement party on the train and all had to dress up in 1940s outfits - it was a fantastic night. I want to hire it for my fortieth!!! It is so nostalgic I just love it.
